It's almost like we have a routine we do with the goldfish. I can feed him by hand now. Even though he's not an iguana, I think that book I got about training your pet iguana kind of helped.
I gotta tell you that when lightning hit Nim's crib, I got all hyped up and worried. I thought maybe Nim was a goner. I ran out there and I didn't even care if that the lightning might come back and strike me. The playhouse was in flames, and my first thought was that Nim was trapped inside. But then I saw the pathway lights go on and off and I knew he was okay. He's got that thing about lights. He can make them go on and off. It's tripmaster and cool.
You know it's really like having a new friend. You get to know each other a little bit at a time. Nim and I have been hanging out a lot, and we're getting to know each other better all the time. When I finally found him in the dryer, Nim let me pet him. It's like we have an understanding. He knows I'm not trying to hurt him. He knows I'm here to help him get food and a place to live, and I can almost feel from him that he knows it, that he even appreciates it. It's pretty cool how far you can get with a pet without any words. There's just this understanding that happens. Nim and I have that, and I'm loving it.
