I love this episode. Emotional. Active. Interesting
moral dilemma. Engaging to our main characters. Everything
a great show ought to be.
I remember first reading this script and saying to myself, “Damn, I
wish I’d written that.” But I didn’t. Rick Eid did
and in my opinion it’s turned out to be one of the best L&O has
ever done - ever. Watch the squaring off between McCoy and
Fontana and tell me I’m not completely on the money.
It also appeals to the cop-writer in me because it tackles a very real
cop issue. Detectives live and die by their gut instincts and
this episode has Fontana confronting the terrifying possibility his gut
may have been wrong in the investigation of a high profile case.
I’ve been involved with a lot of fine episodes of television through my
years. This ranks up with the finest. Hope you like it.
